"The second is this: 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' There is no commandment greater than these."

Mark 12:31

In May of 2019, a group of 10 traveled south the assist Habitat for Humanity in building a house for a family. We partnered with the First Presbyterian Church of Mooresville. In our 4  days of service, we participated in all parts of the project. We arrived to a foundation and left to a full house with a roof! This was an especially transformative experience for some of the youth in our church to get there hands dirty and see the fruits of their labor come together throughout the week.

In August of 2018, a group of Lighthouse members traveled to Texas to aid in hurricane relief. We worked alongside of Samaritan's Purse in the restoration of homes, in provid basic needs for those affected by the storms.

In July 2017 a group of 10 adults and teens spent six days at the Root Cellar in Lewiston, Maine. We led youth activities and Bible lessons for 30 Somalian refugees, took part in English classes for adults and delivered children’s clothing. On our last evening we held a special event in the nearby park serving dinner to the community, and providing crafts, face painting and sports activities for all. It was beautiful to see how quickly our young people became friends with the local kids and what joy it brought to them. The team learned a great deal about the challenges a refugee faces in his new country and how those difficulties can be lessened by kind attention and practical helps.
